5 Easy Ways to Remove Stubborn Stains

Have you ever had the misfortune of a coffee or wine spill on your favorite shirt? But now you have that stain and have no idea how to get rid of it. It's happened to all of us.

Stains can truly be a pain in the neck, especially when they won't go away! Whether it's a ring around your collar or yellow armpit stains, the results are always frustrating. Luckily, there are some clever ways to get rid of those annoying stains.

Here are our top 5 tips for removing stubborn stains from clothes:

➝ Salt: The same humble ingredient that flavors your food can also end your woes on laundry day. Salt is a magical quick fix if you are trying to get rid of stains from liquids. Spilt coffee on your white shirt? just rush to your pantry and sprinkle a generous amount of salt on the stain.  The salt will soak up the liquid while its mild abrasive granules will give the fabric a good scrub. After a few minutes of soaking and scrubbing, wash the cloth and poof, the stain will be gone!

➝ Chalk: Who knew you could use chalk to remove stains? The next time you spill oil or grease on your precious clothes, grab a piece of chalk and rub it on the affected area. Chalk absorbs oils and helps to lift the stains. You can also mix a little bit of salt in with the chalk for even better cleaning power.

➝ Tape: If you're in a pinch and don't have anything on hand, use tape to remove stains from fabric. Stick tape to the back of the stain, then place a piece of white paper or cloth over it. Turn the fabric over and set a hot iron on top of it for 30 seconds or so. Remove the paper and then check to see if the stain is gone. If not, repeat until the stain is gone.

➝ Hot water: Sometimes less is more and all you need is hot water. This works especially well for oil and food stains. Hot water breaks down the stain particles expertly and makes the stain removal process fuss-free. Use The Better Home's natural washing liquid along with hot water to expertly remove stains and deep clean your clothes without any harsh chemicals.

➝ Lemon: Lemon is one of the best ways to get rid of them, but first you need to make sure that the stain is not set in. Rub the area with lemon while it is still wet, then rinse off the lemon juice with water and dry the area. Repeat this process until the stain is gone.
